On reflection, given the long campaign by Plaid Cymru over the Tryweryn Issue and central concern of 'Cymreag' speaking rural Cymru and not least students who in 1963 had established CyIG. I am mystified as to why these representatives of Cultural Nationalism had not made a really radical stand to halt construction of the Dam and eventual eviction of Capel Celyn Villagers. Keeping in mind that Plaid Cymru along with traditional pacifists were no strangers to acts of civil disobedience and obstructive pacifism against military bases and even a young CyIG was of similar 'militant mind', |I find it surprising there was no similar action as carried out by AIM at Alcatraz, Wounded Knee and Grand River Dam. Why Not?
You will note that the CyIG Commemoration got far more press attention than the Tryweryn Anniversary, though note that I did not obtain Daily Post Reports whilst there was nothing in the Western Mail though the Western Mail covered very well the CyIG Trefechan Bridge Commemoration but no cuttings on show here.
Tyweryn Anniversary ignored by Western Mail but not by Daily Post nor ignored by Y Cymru or S4C and I have heard the Cambrian News will publishing report with fotos of the Rally.
